Water color is nice to use when drawing painting whatever your creative imagination can think of. Kids and adults alike use this medium and can create a variety of works from comprising of many bright and beautiful colors. A side effect that this has though is that sometimes as you or your children get caught up painting you may accidentally spill some water color on your carpet which is never a good thing. The water color spill can cause a nasty stain on your favorite carpet which can really alter its physical appearance.
Nobody wants to have a stained carpet in their home which is why cleaning up this kind of mess is a must. Water color stains though are no joke so you’ll need the proper approach to get the job done right. Here’s what you’ll need to do to correctly remove water color stains from your carpet.
The first thing that you’ll need to do is try to remove as much of the spilled water color as quickly as you can. You can use a sponge or a clean white cloth to dab the spill with and absorb as much of the liquid before it stains other parts of the carpet.
After clearing up the carpet of any excess liquid, it is now time to move on and address the resulting stain. To remove this from your carpet you’ll need a cleaning agent which will break down the stain. Grab some household ammonia and mix a tablespoon of it with a half a cup of warm water.
Apply the cleaning agent onto the stain and use a clean white cloth to blot the area. The stain will slowly transfer from the carpet surface onto the cloth as you continue to blot it. Just be patient and blot the stain repeatedly until you get all of the water color stain off of the carpet. This may take several attempts but soon enough your carpet will once again be stain-free.
Finish everything by rinsing the area with tap water to remove any excess residue which may have been left behind. Dry it up using some clean rags and your carpet will now be as good as new.
